Asheville man pockets $200,000 scratch-off win

Clarence Payton of Asheville tried his luck on a $5 scratch-off and won a $200,000 top prize.

Payton bought his lucky High Voltage Cash ticket from Tunnel Rd Gas & Vape on Tunnel Road in Asheville.

He arrived at lottery headquarters Friday to claim his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $144,021.

The High Voltage Cash game debuted in October with four $200,000 top prizes. Two $200,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
