Orange County man snags $200,000 scratch-off prize

Kevin Valdez of Chapel Hill took a chance on a $5 scratch-off and won a $200,000 top prize.

Valdez bought the lucky Cash King ticket from the Short Stop on West Main Street in Carrboro.

He arrived at lottery headquarters Tuesday to claim the prize. After required state and federal tax withholdings, Valdez took home $144,021.

The Cash King game debuted in January with four $200,000 top prizes. One $200,000 prize remains to be claimed.

Congrats to you sir. I hope you enjoy your win.Carrboro is a nice place to live,with Chapel Hill next door.I'm so glad people are letting the lottery know about their tickets being tampered with. Until a lottery player came on line and told about the White line on tickets all was good. I'm sure after 20 years there would be more winners Good luck to all who play. You'll need it.
